A man who was stabbed to death last night at a house in Windmill Road has been named locally as Anthony Fernandes.
The 46-year-old was found at a house suffering from multiple stab wounds.
He was rushed to hospital by an ambulance at 8.30pm but died at 11.50pm.
A 43-year-old man and a 25-year-old man, both from Croydon, have been arrested in connection with the murder and taken to separate police stations.
A police spokesman said: “Police were called shortly after 20.30 on Tuesday 28 July to an address in Windmill Road, Croydon. In a ground floor flat at the premises, they found a man aged 46 suffering from multiple stab wounds.
“He was taken by ambulance to Kings College Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 23.50.
“We believe we know his identity and are in the process of informing next of kin.
“A post mortem examination and formal identification will take place Wednesday 29 July.
“It is being investigated by the Homicide and Serious Crime Command, led by DI Dave Willis on 020 8721 4155.”
A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called last night at 8.25pm top a report of a stabbing on Windmill Rd in Croydon.
"We sent two fast response cars, two ambulance crews and a medical team in a car to the scene where staff treated a man reported to be 50 years old for serious injuries.
"The patient was taken to Kings College Hospital as a priority and escorted by the doctor from the medical team."
