A man stabbed to death at his home in Croydon worked as a technician at Epsom College.
Anthony Fernandes, known as Tony, was killed in his house in Windmill Road, Broad Green, on Tuesday night.
Police arrested a third person - a 16-year-old teenager - in connection with his death last night.
Epsom College confirmed Mr Fernandes had worked for over 20 years as a senior chemistry technician at the college.
Sarah Teasdale, bursar, said: “I can confirm that Tony was the Senior Chemistry Technician at Epsom College. He has worked for the College for over 20 years and will be sorely missed by his friends and colleagues here.
“Our thoughts are with his friends and family at this very difficult time.”
The 46-year-old was found with multiple stab wounds and was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead at 11.50pm on Tuesday.
A police spokesman said: “Police were called at 8.30pm on Tuesday July 28 to an address in Windmill Road, Croydon. In a ground floor flat at the premises, they found a man aged 46 suffering from multiple stab wounds.
“He was taken by ambulance to Kings College Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 23.50.
“We believe we know his identity and are in the process of informing next of kin."
A post mortem examination and formal identification was expected to take place yesterday.
The murder is being investigated by the Homicide and Serious Crime Command, led by DI Dave Willis on 020 8721 4155.”
A 43-year-old man, a 25-year-old man and a 16-year-old man have been arrested in connection with the incident and are in custody in separate south London police stations.
