Epsom & Ewell hot-shot Dale Marvell reckons the Combined Counties Premier Division title is on the cards if he can maintain his impressive scoring credentials, writes Jo Robinson.

Marvell has already struck seven goals in three pre-season matches - including four against Haywards Heath Town - to add to the 25 goals he notched in all competitions last year.

Strike partner Robbie Burns bagged 24 himself last season as the pair were ultimately left disappointed as Epsom finished fourth, having topped the table at Christmas.

Manager Lyndon Buckwell is confident he has the resources to deliver promotion this time around and Marvell believes the deadly duo - plus the arrival of new boy Alex McGregor - can still get better.

“Goals win games, and if we keep scoring goals, we’ve got a great chance,” he said.

“We’ve got a bigger and better squad this year. There are more players to bring in if there are injuries, and whoever steps in is strong.

“There’s more competition for places this year, which is really good.”
