Budding artists are being offered the chance to design the front page of a racecard for Sandown Park racecourse.

The competition is open to children between the ages of eight and 12, who need to draw their design on A4 paper.

The design can consist of anything imaginable but should be related to Variety Club Day on Saturday, August 22.

The event has been held at Sandown Park for more than 50 years and this year promises a great day out for all of the family.

Free entertainment for the children will include lifesize Fi Fi and Bumble characters, space hopper races, bouncy castles and face painting, as well as the usual horse racing action.

The winning artist will not only have their design seen by thousands of racegoers but their family will also get free tickets for the day and a VIP visit to Marwell Zoo, which will include a guided tour and the chance to get up close with the animals.

Send your entries, with the name of the child and guardian and contact details, to Louise Robertson, Unecol House, 819 London Road, North Cheam SM3 9BN.

Deadline for entries is August 15.
