Two-Headed, cornerHOUSE
The opening night of the short run of Two-Headed at the cornerHOUSE shows what an interesting writer Julie Jensen is.
This tightly written drama at the Douglas Road arts centre in Tolworth, covers decades of the lives of two childhood friends in a number of short, emblematic scenes.
They come from polygamous backgrounds and their lives are overshadowed by a truly awful incident when the local Mormon militia slaughtered would-be emigrants moving through their neighbourhood.
Noor Lawson and Liz McMullen give stunning performances as the two friends, Hettie and Lavinia.
From childhood playfulness, via tense maturity to relaxed old age, this pair of gifted young actors mesmerise in their portrayal of these vibrant yet damaged 19th century Americans.
Director Helen Broughton has brought out the best from this important play and her exceptional players. Performances and a production to cherish.
