A 42-year-old has completed a 350 nautical mile (403 miles) footrace across the Arctic Ocean to the magnetic North Pole, raising £25,000 for ChildLine in the process.
John MacPherson, of Melody Road, Wandsworth Town, teamed-up with two friends for the race.
John, who works at Goldman Sachs, said: “We had the adventure of a lifetime. Crossing the finishing line felt absolutely amazing and we knew we had achieved something special.
"It was extremely challenging, especially having three and a half weeks with no direct contact with family and friends but knowing that the money we raised from this event will help ChildLine [which is supported by the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children] answer many more calls from children trying to get through really inspired and motivated our determination to succeed.”
The team, one of five teams in the world competing on foot, won three of four stages and beat other foot competitors by nearly 48 hours.
A nautical mile is equal to 1,852 metres while a land mile equates to 1,609 metres.
