Hard up pensioners in Kingston are set to benefit from help to stay warm this winter, after a Government grant towards visits from energy efficiency experts.
Specialist advisers will visit vulnerable households who find it particularly difficult to meet the costs of heating bills.
Councillor Rolson Davies, announcing the £36,000 grant, said: “As well as setting up energy efficiency measures in homes, they will be giving specialist advice on how to keep fuel bills low and tips on staying warm and safe this winter.”
Kingston Council will run meetings with health professionals, social services and voluntary groups on how best to prepare for high fuel bills and low temperatures this winter.
