New Malden design firm James and Taylor have made their mark on another new London building, showcasing a unique type of facade which will age over time to fit in with the surrounding conservation area.
The company’s work on the new mesh covering at the Queen Mary BioEnterprises Innovation Centre follows hot on the heels of successful projects at the Young Vic Theatre, the Stephen Lawrence Centre near New Cross, and New York’s Museum of Contemporary Art.
The firm’s Eyetech technology means the surface is opaque when viewed from one direction and transparent when viewed from the other, while a specially selected brass will weather over time to mellow shades of red and brown.
