Fantasy and reality are two different words, but it seems the lost young generation can no longer differentiate between the two when it comes to the endless desire to carry on the chain reaction to Media self-destruction.
Our society now seems confused about what to think about children and young people. It seems to be gripped with a fear of children, blaming them for many of society’s ills: vandalism, drugs, drink, sex, teenage pregnancy, the list goes on.
If these theories are true, where do these rebellious attitudes stem from? This is where a lot of answers come in, it’s also where Media plays it’s role.
Media presented in forms of magazines and TV advertisements possess the contents of “The perfect body image”, “What to wear”, “What every girl must have”, “The latest phone, with un-limited internet access!”,and many other brain-washing titles which lead the vulnerable to imitate others to be ‘What’s now and what’s cool’.
However, Media is not all bad. How else would we know the latest offers in the super-market? or Which clothes shop is doing the largest sale ? ; but when Media affects to the extent of anorexia, obesity, loss of communication skills,or even just emotional separation from the family you love most, then maybe it is time to wake up and get back to your old unique self.
Society’s young minds do not have long till they find themselves in a parallel world, where the result is not always a successful model.
