NHS Kingston is now advertising the borough’s designated swine flu drugs providers despite initially refusing to on the grounds of security.
One pharmacy in each London borough was identified to stock the anti-viral medication and the original decision not to reveal the location was made in line with Department of Health advice.
A spokesman for NHS London said at the time: “We don’t want to advertise the locations because we don’t want people turning up en masse and trying to stockpile the drugs. We’re just trying to make sure the people who need the medication can get it.”
However, when the national flu helpline was set up it was decided all the anti-viral collection points should be published so people could access their nearest centre.
If you have been assessed by the National Pandemic Flu Service and given a reference number, but do not have a flu friend who can collect your anti-virals, you may have been asked to contact your Primary Care Trust.
If this is the case please call Surbiton Hospital on 020 8399 7111 from 8am to 8 pm, seven days a week, or Ace Pharmacy on 020 8397 4564 between 9am and 8pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 6.30pm on Saturday or 10am to 2 pm on Sunday.
Arrangements will then be made for you to receive your anti-viral medication.
An NHS Kingston spokesman said: “So far we have had very positive feed back so far from members of the public who have attended our anti-viral collection points at Surbiton and Ace Pharmacy.”
