Revellers turned the clock back with an afternoon of Edwardian fun and games to mark a very special birthday.
The opening of John Innes Park 100 years ago was celebrated with a themed fair at the site in Merton Park this weekend.
Historical attractions included authentic music in the park’s bandstand, miniature steam train rides and displays of Edwardian sports.
Other activities at the fair, which was organised by the John Innes Society, included face painting, a treasure hunt and raffle.
Also on offer at Saturday’s celebration were guided tours, a re-enactment of the ceremonial opening of the park and the unveiling of a commemorative rose bed.
The park in Mostyn Road was created by businessman and philanthropist John Innes, who donated it to the people of Merton when he died in 1904. It was first opened to the public in 1909.
