Two reporters from the Croydon Guardian have been shortlisted for a top journalism award.

Harry Miller and Kirsty Whalley have both been shortlisted in the Newcomer of the Year Category at the EDF Energy London and the South of England Media Awards 2009, run in association with HoldtheFrontPage a media website.

The awards will be announced at a lunchtime awards ceremony at The Globe Theatre, London, on Thursday October 22.

Assistant editor Matthew Knowles said: “I am very pleased for both Harry and Kirsty who, despite the fact they have been journalists for less than two years, have provided excellent coverage of the area resulting in a string of scoops for the paper.”
