The public will get their first real idea of what medical services will be provided at Surbiton Hospital if it becomes a £15m polyclinic at an extraordinary board meeting of Kingston NHS on Tuesday.
Health bosses set aside £500,000 earlier this year to take forward the redevelopment of the Ewell Road hospital, which was facing closure and potential sale to private developers two years ago when the Kingston Guardian’s sister paper, the Surrey Comet, collected a 7,000-strong petition to keep it open.
Board members including chief executive David Smith will present their overall strategy for the site with GP surgeries, x-rays, physiotherapy and midwifery, a dentist being mooted, as well as part of the site being used by Kingston Council potentially for a primary school.
An announcement about whether September’s public consultation will be formal or informal will also be made at the meeting on Tuesday at 3pm.
