Croydon’s Aerodrome hotel is up for sale after administrators instructed estate agents to find a buyer.
The landmark 109-bedroom hotel was opened in 1928 and was designed to be an integral part of the Croydon Airport complex, London’s first international city airport.
Mainly catering for the passengers and airline crews, many famous people also stayed at the property including King George VI, Amy Johnson, Douglas Fairbanks and Charlie Chaplin.
Acting on behalf of David Chubb and Mark Shires of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, joint administrators for Mainwalk Ltd, Christie + Co has been instructed to sell the hotel.
