Crystal Palace included defender Claude Davis in their team photograph yesterday, despite the transfer embargo placed on the club likely to delay his move to Selhurst Park.
The Jamaican, released from his contract by Derby County, has agreed personal terms with Palace but is still waiting for a new work permit before he can be officially registered as an Eagles player.
News of the embargo, imposed after former Palace players complained to the Players Football Association about unpaid wages and bonuses, is expected to delay proceedings even further.
Manager Neil Warnock though still believes the deal will go through.
He said: "We are hoping to tie Claude Davis up but we have to get a work permit for him, a new one, and are in the process of doing that.
"We've applied through the right places, we're just waiting to get a date for the hearing at the moment."
Youngster Allasane N'Diaye was also included in 22-man squad but there was no place for fellow teenagers James Comley, Kieron Cadogan and Kieran Djilali.
Striker Simon Thomas, signed from Boreham Wood last summer, was not included having been told he is free to leave the club.
