Detectives have renewed their appeal for witnesses to come forward after the rape of a 16-year-old girl in Walton-on-the-Hill, on Wednesday, July 29.
The offence took place in the recreation ground near Howard Close, sometime between 3am and 6am, as the victim was walking alone.
Officers are particularly keen to speak with a man who was seen driving a small silver jeep-type vehicle near the Chequers pub. This key witness was wearing a black jacket and he had a dog with him.
Detective Inspector Jackie Elkins said: “We have spoken to a number of people living near the Howard Close recreation ground but I am really keen to speak to this particular dog walker.
“I am appealing for people to cast their minds back to last Wednesday (July 29), between 3am and 6am. Were you in the Chequers Lane area?
"We urgently need to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of the park between 3am and 6am as you may have vital information.”
The rapist is described as a white man, aged in his mid-20s and average build. He was wearing a black coat, blue jeans with grey writing on the sides, black trainers which had an air bubble at the back, and he had a silver ring pierced in his left eyebrow. He did not speak to the victim.
Detective Inspector Jackie Elkins added: “ My officers have painstakingly and meticulously carried out a number of enquiries but your help could make a real difference. If you recognise the suspect’s description, you were in the area or you are that key witness then please get in touch.”
Anyone with information should contact DI Elkins at Epsom CID on 0845 125 2222.
