Yobs who disturbed a quiet Fulham cul-de-sac by throwing stones at each other, climbing on top of residents’ cars and making prank calls to the emergency services have been banned from the area by police and council officials.

A dispersal zone has been put in place around Seagrove Road this month following complaints from harrassed neighbours.

The no-go zone is being enforced as part of a joint operation between the police and council meaning that trouble makers can be moved on more easily from the area.

Teenagers left their bikes in the middle of the road as they hurled stones at each other and climbed over cars.

Residents said youths rang doorbells for no reason and intimdated passers-by. During one incident a fireman responding to a hoax 999 call was threatened with a toy firearm.

Tom Squires, a 30-year-old resident of Seagrave Road, said: “Trouble started brewing around February time and it built up from there.

“Groups of up to 20 or 30 youths would hang around the cul-de-sac and it could be quite intimidating. Most of us have had our cars scratched and some of us have seen much worse.”

The Seagrave Road dispersal zone is one of two currently active in the borough, the second being around Hammersmith bus garage.

Under the conditions of the zone, police officers can move on groups of two or more if they are causing or are likely to cause intimidation, harassment, alarm or distress.

Anyone found guilty of breaching the dispersal zone’s conditions faces three months in prison or a £2,500 fine.

Youths under 16 years and not under the effective control of an adult can also be taken home to their parents.

The zone will be enforced for at least three months and covers Seagrave Road, Farm Lane, Tamworth Street, Ongar Road, Halford Road, Merrington Road, Hildyard Road, Micklethwaite Road, Viking Court and all associated alleyways.

To report antisocial behaviour anywhere in the borough call the council on 020 8753 2693.
