CORINTHIAN CASUALS 1 REDHILL 0

Corinthian Casuals chalked up another pre-season victory after a hard-fought match with Redhill on Tuesday night.

Redhill were a useful and organised side, who limited Casuals attack for much of the game, although, in the last 15 minutes of each half, Casuals certainly had enough chances to score several goals.

After only five minutes, good control by Jamal Carr saw him create an opening but he fired straight at the goalkeeper. Twenty minutes later, Glenn Boosey’s stretched lob dropped just over the bar.

As the half drew to a close, Casuals looked stronger and Kane Sergeant should have done better when he was presented with a one on one situation with the Redhill keeper. On 38 minutes, Boosey fired wide and, moments later, Sergeant hit a 30-yard effort that flew over.

The referee awarded a corner, although the shot did not appear to have clipped any of the Redhill players and David Oquayle from the resulting play saw his shot tipped over the bar.

The second half was a carbon copy of the first half as stalemate was the order of the day. With 15 minutes to go, the referee pulled a muscle and Casuals manager Brian Adamson was forced to take over on the line. It was at this point Casuals woke up and, with three minutes remaining, Scott Hassell played in Carr who made no mistake with only the keeper to beat.

Casuals line-up: Matt Mann (Andy Wyn), Martin Dunne (Byron Brown), Carlos Talbot, Scott Hassell, Yousef Matwali (Chris Horwood), Lee Matthews (Scott Corbett), Jamal Carr, Kenny Ogbanufe (Nicky Ogbanufe), David Oquayle (Ali Wiltshire), Glenn Boosey, Kane Sergeant
