The final concert of the Music Night Series at Sandown Park proved to be as popular as ever as Boyzone took to the stage as part of their current tour of the UK and Ireland, entitled Better 09.
The Music Nights began two weeks ago with a sold out concert by local resident Mick Hucknall and his band Simply Red, followed by American girlband Pussycat Dolls and rounded off by Boyzone last night.
Although the weather has been somewhat unforgiving, the Esher venue has been packed out on all three nights and undoubtedly a great time was had by all.
Boyzone are still one of the UK’s biggest boy bands having first hit the scene more than 15 years ago.
Ronan, Stephen, Mikey, Keith and Shane kicked off after the action from the track had concluded and they thrilled the crowds with a medley of hits including ‘No Matter What’, ‘Words’ and ‘Baby Can I Hold You’.
The mix of old time favorites and more recent songs, along with some great dancing by the quintet and a solo rendition by Stephen of Beyonce’s “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)” proved to be a perfect formula as the crowd danced the night away.
David Mackinnon, Managing Director of Sandown Park commented, “The Music Nights Series at Sandown Park has been a big success this summer, and Boyzone were a perfect choice to round off the Music Night Series at Sandown Park.
"I look forward to exploring new bands for next summer’s series.”
The next raceday at Sandown Park takes place next Thursday, 12th August, the last of the Evening Racing fixtures for the summer.
The racing will be followed by a live performance by some of the best comedians provided by The Comedy Store in London.
Tickets booked in advance including the comedy are £20 for Grandstand and £27 for Premier with a £5 addition to enjoy the Comedy in the Esher Hall after racing.
