A 29-year-old man was shot in the leg in Tooting on Saturday in the fifth gun incident in the borough this week.
The man was reportedly shot in Arnold Road near Tooting rail station.
He made his way to hospital, where staff alerted the police - but no further details have been released.
Today rumours were circulating of gangland activity along the Wandsworth borough border on Saturday night.
The news comes after four other shooting incidents in the past week.
On Thursday a woman found pellet marks from a shotgun in her door in Westbridge Road, Battersea.
Police interviewed neighbours but nobody saw anything and no-one with injuries has come forward.
The previous day, two men were injured after shots were fired in Lavender Hill and Wye Street, less than two hours apart.
Five youths were arrested and bailed in connection with those two incidents.
A man was also shot in the shoulder in Whitlock drive, Southfields, on Tuesday.
