A Walton resident has been chosen as a new recruit for the London 2012 Trailblazer team.
The scheme sees individuals join the organising committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, where they volunteer their time for one day a week. Based in Canary Wharf headquarters, volunteers will take up a range of support roles including assisting the marketing team and updating image and film archives. 33 year old resident, Lucy Katan, will join the community relations team at the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games to help plan public consultation programmes around the Games-times venues.
Lucy Katan said: “I am delighted to become a Trailblazer and cannot wait to get started. I have worked in a voluntary capacity at the 2004 Athens Games and the 2008 Beijing Games but to be part of the team responsible for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in London is really very exciting.”
In total, 41 people have now been through the Trailblazer programme, contributing between them over 4,000 man hours, to the 2012 preparations.
