Outstanding secondary school pupils have been honoured in a special ceremony at Merton Council’s civic centre.
Pupils from St Ann’s School, Bishopsford, Raynes Park, Ricards Lodge, Rutlish, Ursuline and St Mark's Academy were singled out by their schools for excelling in their GCSEs. Some achieved the very top grades, others had great personal results and some excelled in particular subjects.
The Mayor of Merton and Councillor David Simpson celebrated with the high achievers at the ceremony, held on Thursday, September 3.
In raising a toast to the pupils, Coun Simpson said: “Our young people should be very proud of these results on behalf of the council I congratulate them and wish them every success for the future”.
Yvette Stanley, Director of Children Schools and Families for Merton said: “It is wonderful to see so many of Merton’s young people doing so well. Pupils of all abilities including those with special needs have had some huge personal achievements."
