The annual Cambridge Road estate fun day was such a success, organisers sold out of food and drink.
They said it would be the best so far and, with close to 1,000 visitors, Saturday’s fun day seemed to live up to its promise.
A children’s petting zoo, fun fair, bucking bronco, hula-hoop demonstration, bungee run and clowns were among the attractions.
Jill Preston, chairman of Cambridge Road Estates Community Group, said: “It was brilliant. I couldn’t believe how many people turned up. It was a real test of team spirit but, thank God, everyone came through with flying colours.”
The mayor of Kingston Councillor Ian McDonald was there, as was Edward Davey, MP for Kingston and Surbiton, although he could not stay for long as it was his brother’s birthday.
Kay Gardiner was thrilled to win £100 in the raffle because she had no spending money for an upcoming holiday in Spain.
She was joking beforehand with a friend that if she won the TV, she would swap it for the cash.
Ms Preston said: “All the money will go towards next year’s event, which we hope will be even better.”
