Enam Ali and his restaurant, Le Raj, have been nominated for the Gordon Ramsay awards.
The foul-mouthed celebrity chef is searching for the best restaurants in the UK, and an anonymous diner at the Epsom Downs eaterie reckons it deserves a place in the final of a competition, being featured in the Channel 4 F Word programme.
Mr Ali, who this year was made MBE for his services to the restaurant industry, and Le Raj have been nominated in the Indian food category.
He is waiting to hear if he will progress further in the competition, which is looking for nominations in the British, French, Italian, Spanish, Chinese, Thai and open categories.
All nominations must be modestly priced, offering two courses for two people for under £50, have at least 10 seats and not be part of a chain. Nominations are based on food quality, service and atmosphere.
