Chipstead manager Mark Tompkins believes his side can match any in their league if they start cutting out the individual errors that have blighted their season.

The Ryman League Division One South side are yet to win a game in the league and were dumped out of the FA Cup 6-1 by Ryman Premier League leaders Dartford on Saturday.

However, Tompkins believes his side will come good and is hopeful of an upset against league leaders Folkestone Invicta at the weekend.

"The story of our season so far is that we are making too many individual errors and are getting punished," he said.

"If we can cut out the mistakes and start taking our chances we are not far away.

"We are going into the game with Folkestone to win it.

"They have had a good start but so far I have seen nobody in this league that I think are going to run away with it, including Croydon Athletic."

Tompkins continued his summer recruitment drive with the signings of striker Micky Collins, Staines Town's Nick White, left back Billy Chattaway on loan from Sutton United and centre half Lewis Hollingsworth from Fisher Athletic in recent weeks, something we will continue to do.

"I will keep bringing players in," he said.

"I do want to get a settled side but if someone comes available that's going to strengthen us I will bring him in as we are not the final article."

Garath Graham's scored Chipstead consolation from the penalty spot on Saturday but Tompkins was angered by his teams start.

"We gave them a goal after 45 seconds so the team talk I done telling them to keep it tight for 20 minutes went right out of the window," he said.

"We then went 2-0 down after just four minutes so it was game over by then."

Chipstead's next three matches: Sep 19 Folkestone Invicta (h), 26 Met Police (a), Oct 3 Horsham YMCA (FA Trophy preliminary round, h).
