Now is your chance to decide which community projects get a share of a £250,000 pot.

Twelve projects have been shortlisted by Lambeth Council, but residents will get the final say on which three gets the cash from the Lambeth Community Fund.

Projects include improving deteriorating football pitches on Streatham Common and revamping Brockwell Park bmx track to become a 2012 Olympic training venue.

Streatham Darby and Joan Club could get improved computers and showers with the public vote, while a redundant paddling pool and children's wet play area at Norwood Park could be given a new lease of life.

The scheme, Your borough, your budget, your choice!, is the first ever participatory budgeting exercise run by the council and will see prizes of £50,000, £75,000, and £125,000 handed out from the Lambeth Community Fund to the projects with the most votes.

Councillor Jim Dickson, Lambeth cabinet member for finance and resources, said: "This new initiative will give citizens a greater say on how council funds are allocated to community projects."

Voting opened on Monday and will close on October 18. To see the full shortlist of projects and vote visit lambeth.gov.uk/yourchoice. Alternatively vote by texting 07786 206 955.
