Painshill Park was alive with the sound of music on Saturday, September 12, when Elmbridge Choir performed in aid of the park’s charitable trust.

More than 1,000 people braved the windy weather to watch the choir while enjoying picnics.

The Elmbridge Ladies Choir also entertained the crowd with pop classics and show tunes.

The audience were then brought to their feet with a Queen tribute finale.

Cliff van Tonder, musical director of the Cobham-based choir, said: “This was by far our biggest concert ever and, with almost 200 singers on stage at one point, it really was a thrill for everyone present. We really appreciate the support of the people of Elmbridge who helped us to make this a true community event. We feel that we succeeded in our goal of bringing the community together in song and doing it for a good cause too.”

Elmbridge Choirs’ next performance will be their Christmas Concert on Saturday, December 12, at the Leatherhead Theatre, which will also feature the newly-formed Elmbridge Community Big Band.
