Outgoing Streatham MP Keith Hill looks set to become the new chair of Lambeth's controversial housing manager, Lambeth Living.
Mr Hill, who will be stepping down as an MP at the next general election, has been recommended by Lambeth Living's interview panel for the role.
He still needs to be approved by the board, but he is likely to be unveiled as the new chair at the board's annual general meeting on September 30.
Mr Hill served as a Government minister for housing and planning from 2003 to 2005.
His appointment will be seen as politically controversial considering his position as a Labour politician, working with a Labour-run council in a role which should be impartial.
