Local police will embrace the spirit of the Blitz next week when they visit an Earlsfield primary school dressed in 1950s costumes.
The event, at Beatrix Potter School, will mark the 70th anniversary of the famous German bombings during World War Two.
Sergeant Steve Willers and his officers plan to don four 1950s police uniforms complete with gas masks and tin helmets for the day.
The officers at Earlsfield Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) have also found an old police Morris Minor similar to those driven in wartime Britain.
Children and teachers are to recreate the Blitz by taking an original steam train to Surrey, as their predecessors would have done during evacuation.
The Wandsworth Guardian will carry pictures of the event, on Tuesday, September 29.
