A web-based anti-bullying programme has been shunned by schools in Wandsworth after teachers decided it was “unwieldy”.
The programme, devised by the consultancy Sentinel, allows schools to record incidents and run online surveys of students.
But after a pilot scheme in 12 schools, the software was rejected in favour of a home-grown approach.
The council will now develop its own system of managing bullying in consultation with schools and other local organisations.
The news was announced in a council report for the Children and Young People’s Services Overview and Scrutiny Committee on Tuesday, September 15.
It read: “All transfers from schools are now monitored and any links to bullying identified and follow up support provided if needed.
“Work will take place to reduce fear of bullying amongst young people.”
