Worcester Park continued their sensational start to the season with a commanding performance against a good Bedfont Sports side, writes Darren Talbot.

Park took the lead after just 4 minutes when a Gary Knowelden in-swinging corner found an unmarked Mick Petruzziello who nodded the ball past the static Bedfont keeper.

Despite Park’s strong start to the game, the next 20 minutes belonged to Bedfont who looked comfortably the more dangerous team and the most likely to score but despite Adam Turner looking very sharp up-front there were few clear cut chances.

Turner did manage to rattle the Worcester Park bar midway through the first half but Peter King in the Worcester Park goal had relatively little to do.

Bedfont were rueing the lack of chances after 34 minutes when Worcester Park went two up. Chad Heuston headed the ball through to James Dunning who placed the ball into the corner of the net.

Dunning has now scored in each of his last 3 games and his partnership with Heuston is looking very dangerous.

A minute later it was nearly three when Gary Knowelden reached the by-line but his cut back was just behind the advancing forwards.

The second half started no better for Bedfont as Carl Chaney almost scored immediately after the break with a rasping volley which was superbly saved by Pelton.

Bedfont brought on the skilful Saman Kanani but they were left with a mountain to climb when James Williams made it three with a header, his first touch a minute after coming on as substitute, from yet another Knowelden cross.

James Dunning could easily have had a hat-trick having a goal disallowed for offside and forcing another smart save from Pelton in the last ten minutes alone but fittingly it was captain Knowelden who sealed the win in the third minute of injury time with a blasted left foot shot.

Former leaders Hartley Wintney, who now have three games in hand, are looming in 3 weeks time in what will surely be the most important game of the season so far but on this form Worcester Park are looking the team to beat.
