Sutton Schools Borough U11s started their season impressively with a 3-1 win against Croydon in a friendly on Saturday.
After a tight opening period, Sutton fell a goal behind when the ball was deflected in from a corner but responded immediately when Sam O’Leary –Blade slotted in after Zack Norman’s shot had come back of the crossbar.
In the second half, Sutton gradually began to get on top with ‘keeper Robert Feeley and his back four giving nothing away and Noah Vezzu in midfield winning some crucial tackles. Vezzu’s free kick was headed in by Cameron Steele and then minutes later Vezzu scored himself from a free kick to seal a fine victory.
South West Trains player of the match with a confident and organised display at centre back was Jack Hopper. Sutton travel to Beckenham this Saturday to play Lewisham in a friendly.
