A new walking trail taking in the historical sites of Ewell will be officially opened this Sunday.

Dr Dhiren Rathod, president of the Rotary Club of Ewell, and Jan Mason, mayor of Epsom and Ewell, will unveil the trail at 3pm on September 27 outside the Upper Mill, in Kingston Road.

Epsom and Ewell Council has worked closely with Ewell Rotary Club to create the fascinating walk which takes in key sites of interest including schools, pubs, churches and gunpowder mills.

Councillor Jean Smith, chairman of the environment committee, said: “We are delighted to see this heritage trail launched.

"Ewell’s history is part of its charm and we hope that many people will take the opportunity to make the discoveries for themselves by taking advantage of this walk.”

The circular trail begins and ends at the Dorset House car park in Cheam Road - it takes one hour to walk the shortest route through Ewell Village.

A full-colour trail leaflet has also been produced and will be free to pick up from Bourne Hall, libraries, the Town Hall or directly from Ewell Rotary Club.
