A police helicopter and officers are hunting for robbers who stole a cash box from a security guard outside a Sainsbury’s store in Wimbledon.
A police spokesman said they were called at 11.20am to the incident in Worple Road.
A police chase resulted in one man being caught, but officers are still looking for suspects.
The police spokesman said: “We were called to reports of a cash-in-transit robbery. The suspects made off by car and were chased by police.
One man was detained in the Victoria Drive area but we are still looking for other suspects.”
Jennifer Emerson, of estate agents Chesterton Humberts in Wimbledon Village, saw the commotion about 11.45am.
She said: "We thought something must be going on because at least 10 police cars sped past the office and through the village in the Putney direction.
"There were a mixture of marked and unmarked cars and a police van."
