Worcester Park continued their excellent start to the season by thumping Bedfont Sports 4-0 on Saturday, writes Darren Talbot.

It took just four minutes for the Combined Counties League Division One leaders to go in front when an unmarked Mick Petruzziello nodded home Gary Knowelden’s in-swinging corner.

Bedfont dominated the next 20 minutes and, although keeper Peter King had relatively little to do, the lively Adam Turner rattled the Park bar mid-way through the half.

But it was Park who struck again in the 34th minute. Chad Heuston headed the ball through to James Dunning, who placed the ball into the corner of the net.

Dunning has now scored in each of his last three matches and his partnership with Heuston is looking very dangerous.

It was nearly three a minute later, but Knowelden’s cut back went behind the advancing forward.

Park continued to dominate and, straight after the restart, Carl Chaney’s rasping volley forced a superb save out of Pelton.

It was 3-0 when, with his first touch after coming on as substitute, James Williams headed home another Knowelden cross.

Dunning had a goal disallowed for offside and forced another smart save from Pelton.

But captain Knowelden wrapped up victory with a blasted left-foot shot in the third minute of injury time.
