A group of Croydon youths have created a musical exploring themes of gang-violence, knife culture and peer pressure.
So Far So Hood was aided in its creation by the Rhema Church London Youth, and aims to encourage young people to make positive choices in life.
The musical, created by more than 50 teenagers, was shown at Fairfield Halls on Sunday, September 27, at 4.30pm and 7.30pm.
Titi Ige, a Youth Worker at Rhema Church London, said: “Our cast is a talented group of singers, actors, dancers and musicians from the Croydon area whose goal is to show that there are youths in south London who want to change their community for the better.
“The young people have all had a hand in either writing scenes, songs or choreographing the dances.”
Last year’s youth production, What’s Your Story, was attended by over 1,400 people, including the late Mayor of Croydon, Jonathan Driver, and was filmed by GMTV for a segment on challenging youth stereotypes.
This year, Croydon Police Superintendent, Dave Stringer and Andrew Pelling, MP for Central Croydon, were expected to attend.
