Security measures will be ramped up at a newly built block of flats after complaints from residents.
Eileen Grech was one of the first tenants to move in to the Holborn Way block in Mitcham town centre when it opened in December.
But she said poor security at the site has lead to the theft of her bike and calls from residents for more CCTV.
A Merton police spokesman said officers in the area had been made aware of thefts from the development, and were working with victims to security mark property and set up a neighbourhood watch.
A spokesman for developers L&Q said the Holborn Way site met ‘Secured by Design’ standards, which are police standards aimed at designing out crime.
She added: “However, following the break-in, we have asked our contractor to visit and report back to us with recommendations on how we can strengthen security.”
