Julian Speroni: Argentina may yet not actually qualify for the World Cup in South Africa next year, and coach Diego Maradona is about as popular as Steve McClaren was, but surely somebody from the Argentine FA needs to take a look at Speroni after yet another superb performance. 8
Clint Hill: Struggling with an injury all week in training, Hill had a decent game at left-back even after he was clattered by the cumbersome Roman Bednar. 7
Shaun Derry: Played deeper than normal which allowed Neil Danns to get forward. Put the tackles in when necessary, including one on Bednar that put the West Brom forward off his game but earned a caution. A magnificent captain’s performance. 8
Paddy McCarthy: Towering performance at centre-back, text-book tackles timed to precision in the penalty area. Makes Jose Fonte appear a better player when he lines up alongside the Portuguese. 8
Jose Fonte: Has put his own Scunthorpe nightmare behind him but still tries to play too much football when all that is needed sometimes is the hoof upfield. 7
Darren Ambrose: Palace fans thought he had a goal at the start of the second half, did what was needed on the right of midfield. 7
Neil Danns: His performance was what an attacking midfielder’s should all be about. Constantly getting forward, if he had his shooting boots on he would have had a goal. 8
Victor Moses: If Victor plays like this every week, he’ll either join Arsenal in January or single-handedly drag Palace to the Premiership via the play-offs. 9
Sean Scannell: Scannell will be asked to play this position again, the advanced forward in a 4-5-1 formation, and he’ll do just as well. Full of pace, could have had a goal if he latched onto a Moses cross. 8
Danny Butterfield: Rolled back the years to turn in a classic stint at right-back. Without Alan Lee to hoof it to until late on in the game, Butterfield was able to play it short to good effect. 8
Alassane N’Diaye: Well taken goal, N’Diaye was good value from his slightly deeper role. Took on West Brom players at will, and would beat them. 8
Subs:
Alan Lee (Ambrose, 61): Came on at the right time as it gave West Brom something different to defend. His flick-on led to the goal, and his holding up and winning of the ball for the rest of the game ensured the Albion weren’t going to get back into the game. 7
Nick Carle (Scannell, 72): Brought on to tighten the game up, and he did exactly what was asked of him. 6
