American punk-pop stars All Time Low are celbreating the release of their album Nothing Personal, with a fully electric, all-ages instore gig at Banquet Records on Saturday. Lead singer Alex Gaskarth spoke to Will Gore

Are you looking forward to coming to England?

Definitely...Touring in England always has a special place for me. I was born in Essex and lived in Harlow until I was seven. Even though I moved to America 14 years ago I still have tons of family here. It's great to be able to see all of them and have them come out to a show and see that I haven't made a total mess of my life....yet ha ha.

What have you got planned for your Banquet Records instore?

We usually do instores acoustic so this will be the first one we've ever done full band, electric. It should be really cool to be able to do a full show in such an intimate setting.

Tell us about your latest album, Nothing Personal

We're all really proud of the CD and feels like it's the best thing we've done so far. It was a different process compared the So Wrong, It's Right because we worked with four different producers. It was great to get their take on our band and see what different aspects they could bring to the table.

Sound/influences

We all definitely got alot of influence from bands like Blink, Jimmy Eat World, and Foo Fighters when we started out. Even more than the music Blink showed us it was cool to be jackasses on stage!

How did the band start?

Jack and I started the band when we were in ninth grade. We needed a drummer so Jack literally would follow Rian around and harass him until he agreed to be in our band. Zack went to another school and came to my house to audition. He was outside skateboarding and he did a sick kick flip and we hired him on the spot.

Best moment

There have been so many great moments that we've been blessed with that it's hard to put my finger on just one. We have the best, most supportive fans and there reactions at shows makes every night pretty amazing.

Fantasy festival line-up

Blink 182, Lady GaGa, Eminem, Lil Wayne, Pink, and The Beatles Nightmare line-up Ha, ha...I don't wanna go there.

Tell us about the tune your wrote with Mark Hoppus from Blink 182

It was definitely one of the most surreal experiences I've ever had. We all grew up idolising Blink so to be sitting in the studio with Mark was truly unbelievable. Most of the first day I think I was totally starstruck but once I got past that it was such a cool experience. He's super talented and one of the best people I've met in the music business. The song was written way before the rest of the CD so it just didn't end up fitting the vibe of the other songs. I'm sure you'll hear it some day.

All Time Low, Banquet Records, Kingston, Eden Street, October 3, 4pm, banquetrecords.com. Admission is free but tickets should be obtained from Banquet Records to avoid disappointment.
