Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock has told centre back Jose Fonte to cut out the errors after almost gifting Sheffield Wednesday a winner last night, writes Imaad Bajwa.

The Eagles shared the points with Sheffield Wednesday in a 0-0 draw, yet Warnock was far from pleased at the Portuguese's tendency to over play, despite the back four keeping their third clean sheet in a row.

The Owls' best chance came when Fonte was dispossessed on the half way line by Tommy Spurr, which led to Leon Clarke going through on goal and Julian Speroni having to save Fonte's blushes with a superb stop.

“He was their best centre forward," said Warnock.

“He needs to get that out of his game. All the effort we put in tonight could have all been all gone by that decision that he made.

“He epitomised our defending in the first six games when we were like paper dolls, you could have blown as away.”

He added: “He needs to become more thoughtful at what is at stake for the team.”
