Motorists often complain road signs are confusing, but two signs in Streatham have left drivers particularly scratching their heads.
Drivers parking in Arragon Gardens might be excused for missing a sign telling them not to park on the red route - which is positioned higher than a double decker bus.
And 10 feet away drivers on Streatham High Road would need an eagle eye to spot a sign that is completely obscured within the branches of a tree.
Motorist Jon Waits said: "It seems pretty ridiculous. Quite why anyone could expect someone to see those signs beggars belief."
Transport for London defended the positioning of the two signs.
A spokesman said the height of the Red Route sign was raised several years ago, after the sign was repeatedly vandalised, while the tree had been cut back in the past week to allow the sign on Streatham High Road to be visible.
