A murder inquiry has been launched after a man was beaten to death in a gang fight in Waddon last night.
Police revealed the man in his early 30s was involved in a fight with a group of others who knew each other.
The victim was found by police with injuries to his head and body in Euston Road, Croydon at 8.40pm.
He was taken to hospital but later died.
The whole of Euston Road remains cordoned off by police.
One neighbour said: “This area is getting worse by the day. It’s terrible that someone has died but it is not suprising around here.
"The police are here all the time for one thing or another. I don’t understand how people can do this to each other, it's scary.”
The case was handed over to Homicide and Serious Crimes Commnand this morning and police are appealing for witnesses.
Detective Chief Inspector John McFarlane said: “All we know at the moment is there was a big altercation between people who knew each other.”
It brings the total number of murders in Croydon yesterday to three after a couple in the 50s were found stabbed to death in their home in South Croydon yesterday lunchtime.
