Mental health groups from across the borough are pulling together to mark World Mental Health Week from October 3 to 11.
Two unique events are being held to help break the stigma associated with mental health issues and celebrate the sporting and artistic achievements of those with mental illnesses.
A sports day hosted by Canons Leisure Centre, Mitcham, on Tuesday will consist of sports from badminton to basketball, culminating with a penalty shoot out.
On Friday, a celebration of culture at the Morden Baptist Church will include musical performances and poetry readings from those supported by the borough’s different mental health organisations including Fanon, Imagine, Merton Mind, Merton Platform, Rethink and St Mark’s family centre.
