Member of Parliament for Sutton and Cheam Paul Burstow has dismissed reports he is at risk of losing his parliamentary seat.
Earlier this week the Evening Standard published research which showed the Liberal Democrats have not fared well in London, falling from 22 to 19 per cent in recent polls.
Their analysis of polling data by polling firm Populus suggests the Lib Dems will lose Richmond Park and Sutton and Cheam.
But Mr Burstow said: “If the polls were to be believed I would have never been elected to Parliament in the first place.
“London-wide opinion polls like this always underestimate support for the Liberal Democrats.”
