Danny Butterfield insists Crystal Palace's struggle to score in the first half is not something he and the other players are worried about.

The Eagles have not found the net before half time since Shefki Kuqi's opener against Barnsley in March, 19 games ago, and missed a number of good chances in Tuesday's goalless draw with Sheffield Wednesday.

However, Butterfield, Palace's longest serving player, does not place too much importance on the statistic.

"Among them 19 games we are winning games," he said.

"It would be nice for us especially as a back four to look on and say we have scored in the first half and that gives us something to hold on to but it's not a statistic we are worried about although it would be nice to end it."

The back four of Butterfield, Paddy McCarthy, Jose Fonte and Clint Hill has kept clean sheets in the three games since the 4-0 humiliation by Scunthorpe, a response that has pleased the 29 year-old.

"I think after the well-documented Scunthorpe game, which we have tried to push aside as quickly as possible, as a team and a squad we have rolled our sleeves up and dug in," he said.

"We are working even harder than we were doing to keep the clean sheets and over the last three games obviously we have done that.

"It's massive positive and a better feeling than losing games.

"If you are not scoring goals the emphasis is on keeping clean sheets to get points but I think the emphasis is on that anyway.

"Clean sheets are what are going to get us points."
