John Lewis did its bit for charity on Friday when staff raised their mugs for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.
The store held coffee mornings in three separate places within the riverside store and nurses from Kingston Hospital’s Sir William Rous unit gave a helping hand by distributing leaflets.
The Mayor of Kingston Councillor Ian McDonald popped in for coffee and liked it so he much stayed for lunch.
More than 400 people across Kingston took part in the event for Macmillan Cancer Support on Friday, September 25, with the common goal of raising more than £8.5m.
Freya Marshall, fundraising manager for south-west London said: “Once again it’s been a great success, and the people of Kingston got behind us whole-heartedly, helping us raise thousands of pounds.
“Archana Sood at Kingston Hospital put the icing on the cake by raising more than £1,300 from her coffee morning at Kingston Hospital and then going on to attend coffee mornings at John Lewis and another coffee morning in Teddington that has raised more than £6,000.”
Bentalls, the Rose Theatre and the Ha Ha Bar and Grill also took part along with schools, businesses and residents across Kingston.
