A late builder and inventor, known locally for his hand in building the Sunray Estate, has been handed the great of honour of having a road named after him.
Councillors at Wednesday’s Surbiton neighbourhood committee had a choice of three names for a new road situated behind Chiltern Drive, which Harry Charles Jones’ company also built.
There were concerns the little back lane was not grand enough to mark such a locally significant man, but they eventually plumped on Jones Lane.
His company HC Jones still works from a premises in Chiltern Drive.
