A man who was stabbed to death just yards from where a Take That music video was filmed has been named as Clive Johnson, 32.
The father-of-three is thought to have been killed while defending a second man.
Mr Johnson died after becoming involved in a fight in Euston Road, Croydon, just yards away from the Kingsley Primary School on Wednesday at 8pm.
A police source said: “There is blood stains all up and down the street. I think the fight moved all around the area near the green because there was blood everywhere.
“From the sounds of it there was quite a few people involved.”
One resident said: “We are a close-knit neighbourhood.
“Everybody know everyone, which is why this murder shocked me. You'd have to be foolish if you think you'd get away with it around here.
"The man who died, Clive Johnson was apparently defending the other man.”
“I know it sounds harsh but it's reassuring to know it wasn't just a random attack on someone just passing by."
A police spokesman said: “Police were called at about 8pm on Wednesday, September 30 to reports of a man assaulted in Euston Road, Croydon.
“On arrival police discovered a man collapsed at the scene. This man, aged 32 years, was pronounced dead at Mayday Hospital shortly after arrival.
“Detectives from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command are investigating, and this is being treated as an unexplained death at present.”
