Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock is happy to be going into a two-week international break, despite taking 10 points from the last four games.
Saturday's 4-1 win over Blackpool continued the Eagles fine form since the heavy defeat to Scunthorpe United last month but a spate of injuries left Warnock with a stick-thin squad to choose from.
Danny Butterfield had to be moved to centre-back after Jose Fonte pulled out and Claude Davis, Victor Moses, Stern John, Freddie Sears and Calvin Andrew were all missing through injury or illness.
“We have a two-week break now to get some players back and we are desperate," said Warnock.
“Shaun Scannell came off injured and we just haven’t got any left now.
"Hopefully in a fortnight we will have three or four players back to give us some depth.
“Fonte had a sickness bug and didn’t feel well.
"We're not sure if it's the same one Claude and Paddy McCarthy had but we thought he was going to play in the morning, he didn’t pull out until 12pm.
"The options were to put Clint Hill in there but I wanted a left footed player playing left back so I’ve seen Butterfield play centre-half a few times in the reserves and he has a great brain on him and I thought he did ever so well in that situation.
"We didn't even have seven subs in the morning and had to get Kieran Djilali out of the shopping centre at 1.30pm.
"We thought Freddie might be on the bench but they didn't want me to use him or Claude.
“In the circumstances it’s a tremendous result really.”
Alan Lee scored Palace's first goal in the first half in 20 attempts on Saturday after just two minutes, with Neil Danns, Darren Ambrose and Alassane N'Diaye also getting on the scoresheet.
“I’m absolutely delighted," said Warnock.
"It was just nice to see a goal go in in the first half, at least that is off our backs now.
“We had to be disciplined, we knew the way they played and we had to be patient with their passing and not get sucked into diving in and giving them spaces and I thought we did that ever so well."
