An 11-year-old boy has been hit by a car on Purley High Street.
It is not known how seriously he is injured but an ambulance has been called to the scene.
Croydon resident Nick Booth was in a shop nearby when he heard something going on.
He said: “I was in the shop and I heard this screaming and everyone in the shop was shouting.
“I looked across by the zebra crossing and there was a kid there screaming his head off.
“I think he had a broken leg or a broken ankle.
“The ambulance came and they were in the process of taking him away. There was a big crowd around.”
Another witness said: “The kids were saying someone pushed him under the car.
"They were quite convinced someone pushed him.”
A London Ambulance spokeswoman said: “We received reports that an 11-year-old boy had been hit by a car at 3.50pm.”
There is one ambulance crew and one responder attending to the boy on the scene.
